Prof. Michael Manfra was announced as the 2021 Arden L. Bement Jr. Award recipient in Purdue News press release, Three professors to receive Purdue’s most prestigious research awards. He is being recognized for a 2020 landmark experiment, conducted by Prof. Manfra and his research team, that found evidence for fractional statistics of quasiparticles called anyons.

The Manfra Group at Purdue University seeks a postdoctoral fellow to explore molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth of novel AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures to be integrated into hybrid GaAs/graphene devices designed to probe non-Abelian anyons in the fractional quantum Hall regime.

Prof. Michael Manfra selected as a finalist and honoree of the Falling Walls Foundation in the Physical Sciences because of techniques and measurements leading to the direct observation of anyonic braiding statistics developed by his Prof. Manfra’s team including the extraordinary work of postdoctoral researcher, Dr. James Nakamura.
