Dr. Patrick Sohr

Patrick joined Professor Manfra’s group as a part of Microsoft Quantum Purdue in July of 2021 following the completion of his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware in the Spring of 2021. As a Hardware Engineer for Microsoft Quantum Purdue, he assists in maintaining and modifying equipment to continue the growth of high-quality material.

Dr. Alejandro Alcaraz Ramirez

Alejandro joined Professor Manfra's group as a Hardware Test Engineer contractor in October of 2020 and now serves as a Structural Characterization Engineer. His position follows the receipt of his Ph.D. from Purdue University in Spring 2020, and his work for the Electron Microscopy Core at Purdue. As part of Microsoft Quantum Purdue, he characterizes semiconductor devices with multiple characterization instruments and techniques, and assists in automating processes and analysis.

Lindsay Murphy Garza

Lindsay joined Professor Manfra’s group in the Microsoft Quantum Lab as a vender in August of 2020. She took a permanent position with the team in April of 2022. Prior, she served as an assistant researcher while pursuing her BS in Applied Mathematics. After graduating, she worked in Project Management before joining Professor Manfra’s group. As a part of the Microsoft Quantum Lab, she assists in managing the site.

Dr. Shuang Liang

Shuang Liang finished his undergraduate degree in physics at Nanjing University, China. In January of 2018, he joined the Quantum Semiconductor Systems Group as a PhD student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University. As a postdoctoral researcher, his work focused on high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures.

As of February of 2025, Shuang now contributes to a Microsoft DARPA collaboration as a Microsoft Quantum Lab West Lafayette vender.

Dr. Ahmad Azizimanesh

Ahmad joined the research team in February 2025 as a vendor for the Microsoft Quantum Lab in West Lafayette. Prior to this, he received his PhD from the University of Rochester in 2023, where he worked on device fabrication with 2D materials and investigated their electronic, optical, and quantum properties through cryogenic transport and optical measurements. After earning his PhD, Ahmad joined Purdue as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics, focusing on the fabrication and characterization of superconducting qubits with 2D materials. His research is focused on process development for the micro and nanofabrication of devices with III-V semiconductors.

Dr. Kinga Lasek

Kinga joined Prof. Manfra's group in July of 2023 following a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of South Florida advancing the growth and modification of transition metal chalcogenides and magnetic 2D heterostructures. In 2018 she received her PhD in Physics from Institute of Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, where she studied perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in magnetic tunnel junctions heterostructures grown by molecular beam epitaxy.

Kinga is a dedicated physicist with a strong focus on thin films growth, characterization, and materials science. In Prof. Manfra’s research group she will be developing the growth of extremely high-quality AlGaAs-GaAs semiconductor heterostructures to probe quantum phenomena.

Dr. Tanmay Maiti

Tanmay obtained his Ph.D. at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics in India where his research focused on the quantum Hall effect. He joined the Manfra group as a postdoctoral research associate in May of 2022. His research with the Quantum Semiconductor Systems Group focuses on Anyon Interferometry in the Fractional Quantum Hall Regime.

Dr. Rajendra Kumar

Rajendra joined Professor Manfra's group in October 2022 after obtaining his Ph.D. from JNCASR, India, in 2022. His doctoral research focused on developing MBE growth of III-nitride nanostructures to understand the underlying growth mechanisms and the impact of doping and impurities. In the Manfra group, his research focuses on developing MBE growth of III-nitride semiconductor heterostructures and superlattices, particularly GaN/(Al,Sc)N superlattices, for infrared device applications.

Dr. Colin Avogadri

Colin joined Professor Manfra's group in July of 2023 after obtaining his Ph.D. from the University of Montpellier where his research focused on the quantum spin Hall effect in III-V materials. With the Manfra group his focus is on the fabrication of mesoscopic devices and ultra-low temperature measurements investigating the properties of anyons in the fractional quantum Hall regime.

Matthew Mann

Matt Mann finished his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Rutgers University, New Jersey. He joined the Manfra group micro-ohmics project in April of 2021 and is studying the connection of annealed NiAuGe to AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University.
